Holistic Senior Care for nursing home residents and staff: OCAGM launches SoulRapha
OCAGM (Orange County Amazing Grace Ministries, est. 2003) is overjoyed to announce the launch of SoulRapha.org, their new direction to provide holistic senior care through social, emotional, and spiritual support for nursing home residents and staff. SoulRapha, the Hebrew word for healing, is just the start of this exciting journey to expand their services and connect with a wider community.

Since 2003, OCAGM (now SoulRapha) has made over 300,000 loving visits to those who feel most forgotten. Their efforts to offer connection and hope are even more significant now that lockdowns have created further isolation to this vulnerable population. Their acute awareness of the pandemic’s hardships on the aging community has centered their mission. Now, not only can they continue to serve where they used to in person, they can leverage our deeper reliance on technology to connect. This new direction inspired the new name and branding.

“While our look has changed, our energy toward our mission is as invigorated as ever!” said Heather Riley, Executive Director and Chief Spiritual Officer. “We’ve had to get extremely creative, especially since we are serving a population that is not always tech-savvy. We look forward to sharing all the updates to our services over the next few weeks!”
Research demonstrates that access to just one caring individual increases a person’s resilience. “Prior to the pandemic, we made over 50 visits to nursing homes in Orange County every week,” said Riley. Since their founding, SoulRapha has impacted 50 different senior communities. With new branding and a new direction inspired by lockdowns, they plan to expand on this number greatly. “Now we are engaging with our facilities virtually to continue making an impact.”
SoulRapha is also piloting new strategic plans that support healthcare providers to prevent compassion fatigue and provider burnout. Their goal is to make a difference by offering resources to equip and empower healthcare workers with anxious residents and frantic families.
“Spiritual PPE and Spiritual First Aid will offer vital training for the battlefront of COVID-19,” Riley said.

SoulRapha PURPOSE
SoulRapha exists to bring the Gospel of joy, comfort, encouragement, friendship, and salvation to the forgotten residents of nursing homes out of love and obedience to Jesus Christ.
